Zara Larsson just dropped a new single entitled “Love Me Land,” the latest preview of the upcoming overall third (and second international) album. The track is also served with a music video.
The “Lush Life” hitmaker has finally come back to save us from the pop drought again. This time, the Swedish pop star has shared “Love Me Land,” the first solo material in 2020 since a string of underrated stand-alone singles starting with 2018’s “Ruin My Life” and 2019’s “Wow,” “Don’t Worry Bout Me,” and “All the Time.”
Despite how upsetting Larsson’s previous bangers failed to break the charts, she never stops giving us a perfect bop to dance to. With “Love Me Land,” the 22-year-old introduced us to the “land” of self-love in which she discovers strength and resilience after undergoing through a toxic relationship. “Never thought I would love again / Here I am in Love Me Land,” sings Larsson.
The track is co-written by pop hitmakers Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, who are behind gigantic chart-topping tunes by Britney Spears and Selena Gomez. Apart from catchy and sassy lyrics, “Love Me Land” also delivers a club-oriented number infused with an orchestral string.
Accompanying with the arrival of the latest track, a music video is also premiered today. The clip is shot during Larsson’s quarantine in Sweden, which sees the songstress doing a complex and gorgeous choreography. She told Teen Vogue that the process of making the visual for this song was a different experience, as she had to contact with the director who was in Finland at the time.
“I think it’s great that we’re seeing new ways of doing recordings like this. The whole thought of the video was for me to be alone cause it represents what’s in my mind and my feelings so that also worked well during the current situation. Of course we made sure to not be too many people at the venue and during the filming so it was all very COVID safe actually. However, I absolutely loved getting to dance my ass off in this video.”
Back in May, Larsson teased the release of the new record on Twitter. She tweeted that she was on the set for the album cover shoot while shooting videos for two new singles. Now that “Love Me Land” is already dropped, fans can expect the new album from her very soon!
