About a month ago, an inviting album dropped on us, offering a fresh batch of energy to our souls. The scots Young Fathers haven’t failed to, once again, bless our ears with a bombshell of elevating and atmospheric trances as well as tireless drums and layered free spirit vocals as an encapsulating experience of an album.
On the 3rd of February, 2023 the band dropped their fourth studio album Heavy, Heavy on the London based label Ninja Tunes, obtaining a mesmerising response for the hypnotic piece of art. The band finds pathways running through alternative rock sounds which intertwine with soulful outbursts and play around with hip hop and electronic fusions. The unstoppable trio are constantly finding new ways to express their spiritual thoughts on where they come from.
The album drop couldn’t be singled out by it’s release. It has come along with a much awaited tour announcement for this summer. They will be hitting the road in June in order to run through with a comfortable pace until August. The tour commences in France on the 2nd of June taking to the stage at the Yeah Lourmarin Festival. Following on from France they will be making their way around Europe visiting stages in Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the UK and more. The journey’s end lands in Lisbon, Portugal at the Meo Kalorama.
Their UK stops will include visits to Glastonbury Festival, where they will be playing on the 23rd June. They will also be appearing in London on the 15th July at the Somerset House, followed by a gig at Latitude Festival in Henham Park on the 22nd July. The following day, on the 23rd June, the band will be joining the Bluedot Festival hosted at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire. After making a couple of stops in Czechia and Italy, they will be making their way back to the UK for a couple final shows. On the 20th August they will taking to the stage at the Green Man Festival held in Wales and on the 26th they’ll be performing at Connect Festival in Edinburgh.
The release of said album arrives, this time, after a five year pond since their last drop of Cocoa Sugar back in 2018. Never failing to hit the UK charts since their debut album Dead in 2014, they’ve received a lot of critical acclaim, especially after they won the Scottish Album Of The Year award after releasing Tape One and Tape Two as introductory mixtapes.
