Dutch symphonic-metal act Within Temptation have collaborated with former Nightwish soprano Tarja Turunen on the single, ‘Paradise (What About Us?)’ from their upcoming sixth studio album.
The album, which is as yet unnamed, has been in the works since early 2012, and is expected for release in January 2014. A sneak peek, however, will be available in the form of the ‘Paradise (What About Us?)’ EP, set for release on September 27th, which will contain the title track, and three other demos from the upcoming album.
Finnish soprano Tarja Turunen is best known as the former vocalist for the symphonic metal titans Nightwish – and for the very public manner in which she was fired from the group in 2005, after the other members claimed to be tired of her supposedly self-serving and unprofessional attitude. Since her departure, Turunen has recorded four solo albums – the most recent of which, ‘What Lies Beneath’, was released in August – and given birth to a daughter. She will begin a worldwide tour in October to promote the album, but will not be stopping in the UK.
The collaboration between Turunen – recognised as a leading lady of symphonic metal – and Within Temptation, who have established themselves as one of the highest selling bands of the genre with over 3 million copies sold, is sure to be a landmark of the metal calendar.
Paradise (What About Us?) EP will be released on September 27th
