Wiley has released the music video for his new single, ‘Givenchy Bag’. The track from the rapper dubbed as ‘The Godfather of Grime’ is a collaboration with Future, Chip and Nafe Smallz.
The single has been lifted from his upcoming album ‘Full Circle’, succeeding the two ‘Godfather’ albums, from 2017 and 2018 respectively. ‘Full Circle’, as of yet, has not been given an official release date.
Last month, the ‘Wearing My Rolex’ rapper released the track list for the new record. The fourteen song track list features artists including Nicki Minaj, Idris Elba, Lotto Ash, Tion Wayne, Sean Paul, Kranium and Dappy. It’ll also contain a remix of his hit ‘Wearing My Rolex’.
‘Godfather’ received five out of five stars in an NME review. “The whole album is stuffed with similarly brilliant gags and one-liners – including a joke about George Best, leading you to wonder just how long the east London rapper has been working on ‘Godfather’.”
“When he turns up, though, Wiley really turns up, a fact that ‘Godfather’ attests to in dazzling fashion. With features from current genre dons Devlin, JME, Frisco, Flowdan and, of course, Skepta, it feels like a celebration of all grime achieved in 2016.”
At the beginning of October, Wiley walked around the streets of London donning an Ed Sheeran mask. This follows an ongoing feud between the two after Wiley criticised Sheeran for releasing a grime track, ‘Take Me Back To London’ featuring Stormzy.
Discussing Stormzy’s Glastonbury 2019 slot in a conversation with NME, Wiley said, “The set was amazing! I’m really amazed by what I saw Stormzy do because I thought someone had done that already.”
“The good thing with Stormzy is that his heart is so clean. He deserves these type of things. He does. And I’m happy that he did it. There are kids who I wish could have done it from before, back in my time.”
