Wiley has confirmed the release date for his next album, ‘Godfather 3′. The rapper announced the date with a freestyle video onto Youtube, ‘Quick to forget’. The video was captioned with ‘Produced By Z dot G3 OUT JANUARY 1ST 2020′. His previous two ‘Godfather’ albums were released in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
In a review of the first album, Jordan Bassett from NME said, “When he turns up, though, Wiley really turns up, a fact that ‘Godfather’ attests to in dazzling fashion.”
“Well, he’s managed to have his cake and eat it. And that’s why they call him the Godfather.”
At the beginning of the month, Wiley released the music video for his latest single, ‘Givenchy Bag’, a collaboration with Future, Chip and Nafe Smallz.
The single is one of fourteen tracks from his next album ‘Full Circle’, succeeding the two ‘Godfather’ albums. ‘Full Circle’ has no official release date yet. A few days after the single’s unveiling, Wiley released the track list for the upcoming album.
The album has been produced in collaboration with a lengthy list of big name artists from across the grime and mainstream scene, including Nicki Minaj, Sean Paul, Idris Elba, Lotto Ash, Tion Wayne, Kranium and Dappy. A remix of ‘Wearing My Rolex’ will also be included on the record.
When asked in an interview with NME, he said, “Well, I’ll be honest with you. He’s done the most out of any black boy I’ve ever known in England. I’ve never seen anyone do more than what he’s done. For me, Dizzee is the greatest person I’ve ever known.”
Wiley also praised Stormzy’s Glastonbury 2019 slot, “The set was amazing! I’m really amazed by what I saw Stormzy do because I thought someone had done that already.”
