Five-piece metal band While She Sleeps have released a new album called ‘SLEEPS SOCIETY’. It is their fifth album, following the success of their last album ‘So What?’ which was released early last year. ‘SLEEPS SOCIETY’ includes singles released earlier in the year such as ‘YOU ARE ALL YOU NEED‘, ‘SLEEPS SOCIETY’ and ‘NERVOUS’ featuring Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro.
One thing that has been unique about this particular release is that the band has its own pop-up store on release day on the 16th and the 17th this month at Shoreditch. The shop will be open until 8pm today, where fans can buy exclusive merchandise such as signed albums and hand-made products, and even meet the band members, all within Covid-19 guidelines. The pop-up shop will also take place at the Sleeps Warehouse in Sheffield on 24th and 25th later this month. However, merch is available on the website for fans who cannot attend either event.
In regards to this promotional method, While She Sleeps said: “After a year without in-person interaction we have been desperate to get back into the real world and see you all. Although we might not be able to play shows yet, we wanted the release of Sleeps Society to be more than just another zoom call, a celebration of the album in some way or another, with our fans, friends & all of those who’ve made this possible.”
While She Sleeps was first formed in 2006 in Sheffield, consisting of vocalist Lawrence Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran McKenzie and drummer Adam Savage. They most notably received the award for Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards 2012. Their music genre has been described to be a mix of hardcore metal, punk, and pop.
