Westlife have released their new album entitled Wild Dreams today, November 26th, the new album is the band’s thirteenth studio album and contains 15 songs. The band released their comeback album Spectrum in November 2019 and celebrated the album becoming their eighth UK number 1 album.

Westlife was originally called Westside and changed their name due to another band already using the name. The band were formed in Sligo in Ireland and came to the attention of the music world in 1998. The original band lineup consisted of singer and songwriter, Shane Filan, singer, songwriter and television presenter, Brian McFadden, singer and songwriter, Markus Feehily, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Kian Egan, and singer, songwriter, radio presenter, dancer, television presenter and former professional footballer, Nicky Byrne.
McFadden departed from the group in 2004, leaving Filan, Feehily, Egan and Bryne as a four-piece. The four-piece disbanded in 2012, reunited in 2018 and have released 13 studio albums to date. As a five-piece, the group released 4 albums and released 9 albums as a four-piece. The band’s self-entitled 1999 debut album Westlife provided the band with five, UK number 1 singles, “If I Let You”, “Swear It Again”, “I Have A Dream”/”Sessions in The Sun”, “Fool Again” and their signature single “Flying Without Wings”. The band released the lead single “Starlight” from their new album Wild Dreams last month when announcing their new album. The single was released on October 14th and set the tone for the band’s new album release.

The band’s new album was to be released on November 19 and the band decided to push back their new album until today, November 26th on October 13th. The album will also include live versions of the band’s 1999 hit single “Flying Without Wings” and their 2002 hit single “World of Our Own”.
The band said of the new album “This album means more to us than anything we have done before and has been inspired by the challenges we’ve all overcome over the last 18 months.” The band further said that the album represents “New beginnings” and “hope” The band also released their second single from the album, “My Hero” this month following their performance of the single at The Pride of Britain Awards, where they were joined on stage by the winners of the night. The single “My Hero” was co-written by Ed Sheeran and DJ Steve Mac.
The album was penned during the Covid 19 Pandemic Lockdown and the band said of their Covid 19 Lockdown experience and their creative process “The maze of emotions we all experienced during the pandemic drew us to songwriting and has helped us create a really special album that we have everything we love in music”
At the time of announcing their new album, the band also announced that they will be embarking on their The Wild Dreams: All The Hits Tour in July. The band’s tour kicks off in Dublin on July 8th and ends in Cardiff on December 12th 2022. The band will also be performing their first sold-out date at Wembley Stadium on August 6th during their tour.
The band appeared on the ITV programme Loose Women at 12.30 pm today November 26th, as part of a Westlife Takeover called Looselife to discuss personal related issues and to promote their new album. Tickets for the band’s tour are now on general sale and extra dates have also been added to the band’s tour. The band’s followers can enjoy their new album Wild Dreams via a standard or deluxe edition in CD, Vinyl or cassette format in the interim, of their 2022 The Wild Dreams: All The Hits UK Tour, which is set to kick off next Summer.
