This is our first dazzling taste from, the sensational British country-pop duo’s, forthcoming album ‘Restless Minds’, due to be released on the 5th of October 2018, which is sure to showcase their distinctive and unique sound.
‘Restless Minds’ is the duos follow-up album to ‘Cartwheels’, their second studio album which became the first album by a UK country act to reach Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. Firmly cementing Ward Thomas as Britain’s driving force of new wave country infused pop.
“We never consciously tried to be country. We love country, but we’ve always set out to simply write songs that suit the content. The country artists we listen to are the ones mixing it up and moving the genre on – Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves in particular. But we also love Lorde, Cardi B, Haim and Julia Michaels,” says Lizzie.
The eagerly awaited album includes an extensive, 15 strong, song collection which was written in Nashville, London and Hampshire, and is sure to incorporate all of life’s influences.
Previously the twin’s lyrics have tackled issues that are current and close to their hearts, which has included perceptions of social media, the women’s movement, what the truth means in 2018 and mental health.
“As soon as we started writing the album, it became obvious what the themes would be. We were discussing current issues for us as twentysomethings, in a world that’s scary because it’s changing so quickly, but is also creating lots of exciting, new opportunities,” Catherine says.
