Following the release of ‘Running’, Vokxen have premiered their brand new single ‘Crystal Eyes’, which they dropped on the 31st of October 2018. The Northern Irish trio, fresh from performing at the BBC Blackstaff, Voxken have announced two up and coming gigs. The trio will be performing their first show in Belfast, on the 15th of November 2018 and the second show sees the band heading to Londonderry, on the 7th of December 2018.
The trio been carving out a reputation for themselves with electrifying performances, incredible tracks, and exceptional videos. Vokxen have become one of the hottest names in Northern Irish music, electrifying crowds at venues across Belfast and playing international shows in vibrant music cities such as Berlin. The bands most recent performance was a headline gig at Fibber Magee’s in Dublin on Friday 26th October.
Vokxen are now set for their second release of 2018, their bewitching new single, ‘Crystal Eyes’. Combining the inspiration taken from the writings of Film critic, Laura Mulvey; Feminist theory, ‘The Male Gaze’ and, lyrics based on the, 80’s cult film classic The Dark Crystal.
Speaking about ‘Crystal Eyes’, Clash Magazine, said: “Vokxen’s new single is an ode to female solidarity… The trio have a blistering, punk-edge, a precocious sound that finds resolution in that ear-worm chorus.” While LOLA, in Berlin, speaking about the single, said: “With gorgeous harmonies, instrumentation… And part ’80s movie soundtrack, VOKXEN are going to have you sensually swaying into the nearest sweaty body against your will.”
The trio announced via their Twitter that they will be performing two forthcoming shows, the first in Belfast, at the ‘Sound Of Belfast 2018′, on the 15th of November, which will be held at 39 Gordon Street, the second at performance will be in Londonderry, at Bennigans Bar, on the 7th of December 2018. The band also announced that they will be supported by Reevah, on both of their forthcoming upcoming dates.
‘Crystal Eyes’ pays homage to the past whilst remaining contemporary as ever, in Vokxen’s signature edgy style. The video for the track was produced by Canadian documentary team “Definitive Film” behind projects for Netflix, Disney and Google. It tells a captivating tale of false perception, entrapment and breaking free of bonds that hold us back, all told through mesmerizing visuals and dance against one hell of a song.
