Almost four years since the release of the original ethereal collaboration between Sigma and Birdy, ‘Find Me‘ gets the bouncy remix it deserves to launch it right back at the global dance playlists. Rising German electronic duo VIZE’s remix strips down the 2016 version to Birdy’s signature gentle vocals and replaces the light drum’n’bass foundation and keyboard melodies with the trendy slap house beats that have conquered the radio waves this year.
Fresh off capturing the summer club playlists with ‘Never Let Me Down (ft. Tom Gregory)‘ and with millions of streams and monthly listeners, VIZE are aiming to finally break into the UK charts with a rework of a favourite local dance anthem that is just as relevant today as it was four years ago. The brand new remix launched yesterday with official anime-inspired video paying an interesting homage to the original music clip that featured Millie Bobby Brown from ‘Stranger Things‘ and ‘Enola Holmes‘.
In case you were wondering what “slap house” is, there are few extensive playlists available on Spotify and other streaming platforms that define the popular bouncy deep house sub-genre captioned under a somewhat made-up term to describe one of the leading trends in the EDM scene of recent years. One needs to go back to the summer of 2018 when Dynoro & Gigi D’Agostino smash hit ‘In My Mind‘ was playing in every corner of the world and stayed in the UK top 10 for 7 weeks straight. It paved the way to tracks like Imanbek’s remix of SAINt JHN’s number 1 hit ‘Roses‘ and R3HAB & GATTUSO’s remix of Radiohead’s iconic ‘Creep‘, and contributed to the rapid rise of electronic acts like VIZE.
The German duo needed less than 2 years to climb to the very top of the European club scene and currently boast the impressive record of over 12 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 100 million views in YouTube and over 650 million total streams across all of their singles. VIZE’s official collaboration with the leading British drum’n’bass duo Sigma and everyone’s favourite folk/pop singer-songwriter Birdy seems to be the next step towards breaking into the UK market, with its door widely open following the success of recent team-up with rising Blackpool singer Tom Gregory.
‘Find Me‘ first premiered in November 2016 and captivated the nation with its emotive melodies and rhythm, following the success of Sigma’s golden-certified debut record Life that came out in 2015 through 3 Beat Records. The drum’n’bass duo consisting of Cameron James “Cam” Edwards and Joseph Aluin “Joe” Lenzie have been working on material for their second full lenght release but are yet to share any definitive information. So far this year Sigma premiered three official singles: ‘2 Hearts (with Sam Feldt ft. Gia Koka)‘, ‘Rest of my Life (ft. Shakira)‘ and most recently the team-up with John Newman for ‘High on You‘.
Meanwhile, Birdy has been working on her upcoming EP Piano Sketches expected on 6 November via Atlantic Records, set to feature original material with special significance to the young songwriter. Earlier in October Birdy released a beautiful and gentle live performance video of her latest minimalistic and intimate track ‘Island Lights‘.
