UK public are to choose their entry for this year’s Eurovision entry to be held in Stockholm 14/5. Viewers will get to make their selections whilst watching ‘Eurovision: You Will Decide’ which will air on BBC 4 on Friday 26/2. At last, viewers get free movement over the nation’s entry without being tied down by a panel of judges.
As David Cameron makes his case for the UK to remain in the European Union, below highlights the best features of this year’s six UK contenders aiming to bring the Eurovision trophy back to the UK with a needed win. Little chance nowadays?
-1- Joe and Jake – ‘You Are Not alone’
A young, handsome duo which would perfectly fit into a boyband. They met on ‘The Voice’ and hope this catchy number will bring them success.
-2- Bianca Claxton – ‘Shine a Little Light’
Those with long memories will be reminded of Katrina and the Waves’ winning song entitled ‘Love Shine a Light’ nearly twenty years ago. Leona Lewis has co-written this hopeful, powerful song.
-3- Dulcima and Tom – ‘When You Go’
Folky, electro, euro pop may best describe this number. Certainly has a country feel to it.
-4- Matthew James – ‘A Better Man’
An experienced performer – one-time member of 90’s band, Bad Boys Inc. but lacks the boyband power.
-5- Darline – ‘Until Tomorrow’
Female duo adding fun to their entry. Highly country and western, this is my tip for UK representation.
-6- Karl William Lund – ‘Miracle’
A sparking firework from this ex-Beatles tribute act performer. A tune that would fit nicely into a boyband.
A decision now in our control, let’s see if we can choose a worthy contender and add some much-needed musical reputation for this legendary contest which has somewhat lost its musicality over the decades. See http://telegraph.co.uk for more information on the six hopefuls and to hear snippets from their entries. The decision is ours.
