Beginning the week with some good news, Tom Walker announced yesterday, Monday 8th June, that he will be running a virtual tour for his fans since he is unable to travel to them. Covid-19 has paused the music industry and called off all live shows for the foreseeable future, so many artists have taken their music online.
On Thursday 11th June, the singer-songwriter will spend the whole day running live-streams via Zoom, in which he will perform various songs and chat to his fans. However, not everyone has a chance to join; Walker explained the details in a social media post.
“I’ve got a limited number of spots for each concert. If you want to be in with a chance of joining one of the shows, comment below with the countries flag (*out of the 6 countries listed above*) from where you want to join.” Have a look at the six eligible countries in his original post below.
I’m doing a virtual world tour … from my house
Obviously, I can’t go on an actual tour right now so I’m bringing the concert to you via Zoom this Thursday!!

Not only will attendees be able to speak to Walker directly, which is definitely not usually a part of live tours, but they will be the first to hear a performance of his new release. ‘Wait For You’ is coming to all platforms this Thursday as the artist’s first new track of 2020.
The song “evokes a feeling of connectivity, togetherness and positivity,” as he so eloquently puts it. Although Walker’s statement all the information we currently have on the song, it can be assumed that it addresses the difficulties many are experiencing currently, and offers a sense of hope. Listeners can pre-save the song to hear it when it arrives.
1/3 The last few weeks have been a turbulent time for us all with recent events especially making us think long and hard about the world we live in. Putting my emotions into songs has always been sort of a therapy for me… pic.twitter.com/CNvq9amqwW — Tom Walker (@IamTomWalker) June 8, 2020
During isolation, the ‘Leave A Light On’ singer has been lifting spirits with his Tweets, joking that his second album will be about “eating crisps and drinking to much wine,” and his followers can relate. He has also shared unofficial new music on Instagram, detailing his experiences over the past few months. This ranges from losing his grandfather to watching people unite through trying times.
Walker also took part in Black Out Tuesday last week, in solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement. He posted an emotional video and statement in which he called the situation “absolutely unacceptable,” and promised to continue to educate himself, asking his followers to do the same.
George Floyd is not the first or only person to suffer injustice, police brutality and prejudice. What has happened to him, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and too many other black people is completely unacceptable, it cannot go on.
