In a move completely out of left field, talismanic lead singer Tom Meighan has taken time away from the Leicester band. This has been announced this morning and was posted in a short message on all the bands social medias and has left fans stunned. In the statement they said he “wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track”.
This has come so far out of the blue as only a few months ago he spoke about releasing solo material and even making a new Kasabian album. This goes to show how serious we now have to be about mental health and how quickly it can turn. Tom had previously opened up about his mental health issues saying “In every way, 2016 was great for Serge, great for Leicester City, shit for me”.
Tom Meighan is stepping down from Kasabian by mutual consent. Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track. We will not be commenting further.

Tom was one of two founding members of Kasabian and has seen it go from playing at his mates 18th birthday to headlining Glastonbury. He also achieved a lifelong dream of playing at Leicester City’s victory party after seeing almost the impossible when Leicester won the league.
Understandably fans are very shocked at this move as there has been nothing that would indicate this happening. But they have been supportive of Tom and hope that he is able to join back up with the band for their new material.
Tom has become synonymous with the band with some fans going as far as saying “No Kasabian without Tom”. Having seen the band grow since its inception, saying it would be a shame if he does not join back up with the rest of the band would be an understatement.
This year was shaping up to be a big year for Kasabian as they were booked to play a massive homecoming show in Leicester’s Victoria Park before it got cancelled due to Coronavirus. There was also talk of them getting back into the studio to record their seventh album, this was then confirmed by both Tom and Serge.
