With the three-year anniversary to the highly regarded debut LP ‘Devotion’ arriving this summer, Essex musician Tirzah arrives out of the woodwork for her first new music since the 2018 offering. Keeping the consistency in collaboration with long-time producer and songwriter Mica Levi (Micachu), who worked on all of her debut album, the new single ‘Send Me’ with writing by Coby Sey arrived early this morning on independent label Domino Recordings.
Send Me is described on Tirzah’s Bandcamp page as “a subconscious snapshot from across a year when Tirzah was playing live regularly for the first time. The track explores recovery, gratitude and new beginnings, presenting a singer having discovered the type of love that is shared between a mother and a child for the first time whilst simultaneously working as an artist.” Before the pandemic, Tirzah embarked on a UK and European tour across the spring/summer of 2019, playing her own headline shows at venues such as Scala and Village Underground in London, whilst also stopping off at festivals such as Field Day, Rosklide and Primvera Sound.
The new single is her usual genre bending trip, encompassing styles of R&B, house, pop and indie rock. The soothing guitar riff pairs effortlessly with the familiar drums Tirzah and Mica are known for. A visual is also available for track, produced edited and directed by Leah Walker. The video depicts Tirzah and fellow artist ãssia embracing as trains pass in the background. This is Tirzah’s second music video with Leah Walker, with the two previously working together on the Devotion cut ‘Affection’ as well.
Tirzah rose to notoriety in indie circles with the release of two extended plays. 2013’s ‘Im Not Dancing’ and 2014’s ‘No Romance’ provided eclectic pop/R&B infused club ready tunes. The following LP would take a more stripped back approach, removing most of the club elements and replacing them with a more psychedelic and textured approach to her sound. Send Me sits outside of both eras, providing a fresh sound that fans are praying will be expanded on in the future. Listen to the new single below.
