Bon Iver, lead by Justin Vernon, announced he would return to the UK with a four date residency at London’s Eventim Apollo, following the release of their most recent album 22, A Million. After immediate sell out, and popular demand for the original shows on February 21, 22, 25 and 26th February 2018, a further two dates were released on the 27th February and then 2nd March, all still at the Apollo.
As if six dates weren’t enough, Vernon has now announced an extra two shows making a total of eight London dates. These will be on March 4th and 5th.
The American indie folk band, founded by Justin himself in 2006, had to cancel a handful of dates on his last European tour in early 2016, due to personal reasons, which included 4 shows in London, Blackpool and Edinburgh. This may of leaded to the announcement of the recent large amount of London dates, in a way to make up for the disappointment.
It’s with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of our forthcoming European tour and Justin’s appearance on @prairie_home. . . pic.twitter.com/3nvEEA2i3r

Here Vernon states his deepest apologies to the fans who had purchased tickets for his European tour, and claims it is with great regret that he has cancelled due to personal reasons.
22, A Million is Bon Iver’s third studio album, after a fiver year silence since his second. The record seemed to ditch the acoustic, sat by a log fire in a desolate wood vibes and switched to a much more synth and experimental sound, playing with auto-tune and pitching to create a more electronic feel. It almost tips into the urban genre, and has certainly got his sounds noticed within the hip hop world. This shows in his recent collaborations with artists such as Kanye West, Travis Scott and Jay Z. In an interview with BBC 1, West told DJ Annie Mac, that Justin Vernon is his ‘favourite living artist’. Kanye is featured on the album 22, A Million, as well as Justin on Kanye’s most recent album release The Life Of Pablo.
Hopefully the tour will explore the broad range of Bon Iver’s genres across the years touching on his soulful folk sound with album For Emily, Forever Ago, released way back in 2008, then switching up to the chopped up lyrics and edgy sound Bon Iver delivers now. There is even a strong possibility there could be some surprise support or guest acts, due to Justin’s never ending list of famous musician chums.
