The Wombats’ singer and guitarist Matthew Murphy, also known as “Murph”, just announced that he’s going to release his first solo album!
The debut album is going to be published under his alias Love Frame Tragedy and is called “Wherever I Go, I Want To Leave”. It has a total of 17 songs, seven of them being new, unreleased songs and the other tracks being previously published on his two EPs “I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really Good At It” and “Five Songs To Briefly Fill The Void”.
To properly kick off the start of his solo career (don’t worry, The Wombats are still going strong nevertheless), he’s released a new single called “5150”, which is named after a code from the California law that describes people who “present a danger to themselves or others due to signs of mental illness”.
““In this case it refers more to how I occasionally feel a need to escape, regardless of the repercussions”, the 35-year-old explained. A music video following up is soon to be released.

The creative mind behind Love Frame Tragedy began back in 2016. The moniker was used as an outlet for Murph to record songs that didn’t make it into onto The Wombats fourth album “Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life”.
Last year, Murph described the Love Fame Tragedy style as “somewhere between Gorillaz and a solo project. I wanna keep collaborating and getting people on board, and if they’re around in the same vicinity and we can make it happen, that would be awesome.” And the collaborations have been working out quite well: The album, along with the previously released EPs, features collaborations with Dan Smith from Bastille, The Killers’ Mark Stoermer, Joey Santiago from Pixies and many more.
