Canadian huge pop act The Weeknd finally returns to the music scene with a new album and a new tour. On March 30, the singer will drop the fourth studio album, After Hours, along with the upcoming tour starting this October, including three shows in London, and other cities namely Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Manchester. Tickets are on sale on February 28 at 9am via Ticketmaster.
It has been around four year since Abel Makkonen Tesfaye released a full-length record. His last offering is Starboy, a blockbuster album that has sold more than three million copies worldwide with smash hits like the title track and “I Feel It Coming”. In 2018, the “Can’t Feel My Face” singer teased his comeback with a six-track EP My Dear Melancholy, a work that is rumoured to be a tribute to his romantic fallout with pop star Selena Gomez.
This year, the Canadian star eventually makes a full comeback with After Hours. The record was initially with double single “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights“, which both are commercially successful on UK Singles Chart at this time. The title track is the latest song cut for the album promotion. The track is a six-minute song that showcases the original Weeknd’s music: dark, haunting, and sensual. Singing “I’m fallin’ in too deep, oh / Without you, I’m asleep / It’s on me, only me, oh / Talk to me, without you, I can’t breathe,” the 30-year-old singer croons and yearns for reconciliation with his lover. Listen to the track below.
After Hours is shaping up to be another great achievement of The Weeknd. Pop music excellence Max Martin is listed as one of the producers of the record. (The result is clear with how “Blinding Lights turns out to be such a monstrous bop.) Furthermore, it is rumoured that the album will see the collaboration with huge stars like SZA.
In support of the forthcoming LP, The Weeknd will go on tour this year. The ‘After Hours’ Tour will be Tesfaye’s first tour since 2017’s ‘Starboy: Legend of the Fall’ Tour. This fall, the singer will land in the UK for seven shows, three of which will take place in the capital at the O2. Sabrina Claudio is confirmed as the opening act of the shows.
