Derby rock band The Struts have teamed up with Paris Jackson, daughter of pop legend Michael Jackson, for a new track ‘Low Key In Love.’
Announcing the song’s release on Instagram, The Struts frontman Luke wrote: “Today we are thrilled to share #LowKeyInLove featuring the brilliant @parisjackson OUT NOW.” He continued: “Low Key In Love was written after a date in Los Angeles at 70’s retro bar ‘Good Times at Davey Wayne’s.’ I walked into the studio explaining that we needed the song to have the essence you feel when entering the bar and absorb the vibe. When we decided to explore the idea of a duet, I thought back to that night and remembered that paris played a brilliant acoustic set. Something inside was telling me that everything happened for a reason, so I decided to message her. I’m convinced some things are just written in the stars. Bringing in paris just gave the song a whole new dimension and really brings the story to life. She is beautiful and brilliant. A star. – Luke.”
Speaking on her collaboration with the British rock band, Jackson said: “I first heard of The Struts when I went to go see Motley Crue play their final set on New Year’s Eve night at Staples Center a few years ago,” she continued: “When Luke asked to work with me, it was an immediate yes. It’s been a privilege and an honour to sing on a song that I know means so much to Luke, and I’m grateful for the friendship that has sprung from such a lovely project. It’s unlike anything I have ever done or thought to do before, and I’m here for it!”
‘Low Key In Love’ is The Struts first song release since they collaborated with Robbie Williams, Tom Morello, Joe Elliot and Phil Collen for their third album ‘Strange Days,’ which was released late last year. The Struts relocated to Los Angeles in early 2020, speaking with Kerrang! frontman Luke said on the bands emigration: ‘I’d decided to move out to Los Angeles last December; something inside me was telling me to get out there, a strange calling, and so in early January I found myself there. Obviously, I let the guys know, and everyone kinda followed suit very quickly. We did a very small U.S. tour in February, and then the whispers about COVID-19 started happening, and everything just got cancelled.”
Meanwhile, Paris Jackson made her debut onto the music scene in 2020, releasing her debut indie-folk inspired album ‘wilted,’ she also featured on L O V E’s ‘Children’s Music.’ In a recent interview with The Evening Standard, Jackson revealed that her father, Michael Jackson, is a source of inspiration. She said: “I think he’ll always influence everything I do in some way, whether it’s subconscious or intentional.”
