Fans have been waiting 21 year years for this.
I say ‘resurrected’ but The Stone Roses has always been around as their distinct sound is frequently played on TV, in public houses, and on the radio.
‘All For One’, The Stones Roses’ first single since the release of B-sides from ‘Ten Storey Love Song’ in March 1995.
Critics have taken time to pick fault and analyse it to death but surely the single should be celebrated whatever its sound. Certainly for fans who were following the band since 1989 and attended those famous university gigs, they will be nostalgic about this release.
But even for fans like me who were not quite old enough at the time but discovered both Roses albums as part of their love of indie music of the mid-to-late 90s will appreciate their strong presence in the history of British music.
‘All For One’ was premiered on Annie Mac’s Radio One show on the evening of Thursday 12/5.
Manchester saw a series of ‘lemon’ advertisements around the city. Die-hard fans will have made the link.
Mxdwn reported an announcement back in February that The Stone Roses were to play New York’s Madison Square Garden – see article here. On top of this, they are to perform the below venues which opens in their hometown:
15-19/6 – Etihad Stadium – Manchester
30/6 – Madison Square Garden – New York City
8/7 – T in the Park Festival
9/7 – Marlay Park – Dublin
NME revealed that The Stone Roses were in a London studio working on new material, so a new album to coincide with the June Etihad dates will be of no surprise. Mxdwn will announce the release of this third album upon the breaking news. I doubt it will be entitled Third Coming! Listen to ‘All for One’ below:
