The Music were formed in Kippax, Leeds in 1999 and consists of members Robert Harvey, Adam Nutter, Stuart Coleman and Phil Jordan. The band’s first album, ‘The Music’ was released in 2002 and they released two further albums, ‘Welcome to the North’ in 2004 and ‘Strength in Numbers’ in 2008. Their first two albums went gold in the UK. The band released their last single together, ‘Ghost Hands’, before parting ways in 2011.
The vocalist and guitarist Robert Harvey teased fans by sharing old rehearsal clips of the band on Instagram for the first time in nine years. The videos feature The Music’s classics from ‘The People’ in 2002 and ‘Fire’ in 2008. The lead guitarist Adam Nutter has also been sharing various clips of himself playing the band’s songs on his guitar on Instagram.
With the announcement of many live shows and festivals being cancelled this year including Glastonbury, Promotion Director Andy Smith talked about the reunion show in a statement, saying: “Futuresound are going all out to bring some huge shows and events to the region in 2021 after a tough year for live music. It’s been a dream of mine for some time to get The Music back together after nearly a decade away, a band that everyone will remember in some way and shaped some people’s music identity. An unforgettable live band with huge songs. I’m delighted it’s come about now when we all need something to look forward to.”
