New York sibling duo The Lemon Twigs are set to release a new album, Go To School, on 24th August. With 15 tracks, the double LP will be a ‘musical’ centred on the ‘heartbreaking coming-of-age story of Shane, a pure of heart chimpanzee raised as a human boy as he comes to terms with the obstacles of life.’
The 1970s musician and Twigs’ idol Todd Rundgren will make an appearance as Shane’s father, with his mother played by Susan Hall, the brothers’ mother in real life. Their father, Ronnie D’Addario (who has a bona fide music career of his own), also makes contributions to the record. Pre-order the new album here.
To support the forthcoming release, the Twigs today released the album’s final track, ‘If You Give Enough‘, as a single. With complex piano arpeggios and a delicate string arrangement (all the instruments played by the brothers themselves), the song showcases the duo’s huge influence from The Beach Boys, The Zombies and Broadway music.
While still only teenagers, the brothers stormed onto the music scene in 2016 with their debut album Do Hollywood, which garnered high praise from critics. The new LP will be their first release since last year’s Brothers of Destruction EP.
The duo are also set to play a series of dates across the UK later this year, including as the opening act for Arctic Monkeys on their Tranquility Base Hotel And Casino tour. See below for their UK itinerary and click here for tickets.
