Rising UK alternative/pop rockers The Hunna dropped their new track ‘Young & Faded’. The single came out as the title track of an EP featuring all four singles released earlier this year, and serving as the fifth and final part in support of their forthcoming third studio album I’d Rather Die to Let You In expected on 2 October 2020 through LMW Records.
The new opening title track captures the angst of a wasted generation and carries all the initial marking of a future arena anthem. With charismatic frontman Ryan Potter singing “We are the young and faded, we are the lost and wasted“, one can hardly imagine a more overused lyrical cliche in the punk rock scene, and yet The Hunna suceed in making the atmospheric and catchy chorus transform the single into an effective and powerful intro to set the tone for the rest of the EP.
‘Young & Faded‘ leads straight into the explosive pop-punk banger ‘I Wanna Know‘ that premiered earlier in July 2020 to a very positive reception. The Hunna slow down the tempo with the more melodic ‘If This is Love‘ featuring guest vocals by Phem before bringing the heat back up with the significantly heavier ‘Dark Times’, both singles released in May.
Last track ‘Cover Me’ was the first to be premiered this year as an announcement for the upcoming studio album and sees them teaming up with the legendary Traves Barker from Blink-182. Ignoring the fact that these days the drummer will feature with just about anyone, there is no doubt about his talent and legacy, and the colaboration adds variety and depth while serving as a clear statement of The Hunna’s place in the contemporary pop punk and rock scenes.
In addition to their rapidly rising international reputation, The Hunna were chosen as the main headliner of this year’s Heavy Music Awards. In an exclusive online ceremony, the quartet delivered a memorable performance of ‘I Wanna Know‘ and ‘Dark Times‘ with the confidence and stage presence of an established stadium headliner, showcasing their signature blend of relentless rock energy, rebelious punk attitude and pop sensibility.
