Modern metal icons the Dillinger Escape Plan have performed their last gigs as a band, before disbanding after 20 years together. Their last album came in 2016, in the form of the excellent Dissociation, which was always lauded and intended to be their final album.
Rest In Piece(s) The Dillinger Escape Plan
One of the most influential heavy bands of the 21st century.
The absolute best live band on the face of the Earth.
The last dangerous rock band.
Thanks for the memories and the scars.https://t.co/6iSpI6JXqF

The band’s farewell was an incendiary, three night residency at New York City’s Terminal 5, with some star-studded artists coming out to support DEP’s final shows. Starting on December 27, the first guest support came from Faith No More and Mr. Bungle legend Mike Patton, having collaborated with the band as far back as 2002, on the Irony is a Dead Scene EP. That EP was performed in full in front of the baying crowd, with a cover of Faith No More’s ‘Malpractice’ thrown in to boot.
The following night, the band’s original singer Dimitri Minakakis briefly rejoined the band, to perform a selection of songs from their 1999 ( he left the band in 2001, to be replaced by Greg Puciato) debut album Calculating Inifinity, including the classic, ‘43% Burnt.’
December 29 saw the culmination of the residency, with Minakakis once again returning to the band’s ranks- this time to perform ‘Sandbox Magician’, as well as an emotional reunion with former bassist Adam Doll, who helped close the set on electronics for ‘Dissociation’.
Doll was the original bassist for DEP, before being tragically paralysed from the chest down in a car accident, just prior to the recording of Calculating Infinity. He did return to record samples on Irony is a Dead Scene, but his onstage return was a hugely emotional moment for fans and band members alike.
