The Darkness have announced the release of their new single, “It’s Love, Jim”. The band’s new track is the latest single to be released from their upcoming album Motorheart.
A new music video has been released alongside the new track. The new single’s official video has been filmed in black and white and depicts the group participating in a séance. As the music crescendos as does the paranormal activity, leading to a performance on a farm. The video climaxes with the supernatural demise of the band while distorted guitars cement their fate.
Within the new single, the British rockers stick to their musical formula, proven successful since their 2003 debut. The band’s pop-laced metal format is evident, heard within their traditional four-piece line-up. The Suffolk formed band consists of frontman and guitarist Justin Hawkins, guitarist and vocalist Dan Hawkins, bass and vocalist Frankie Poullain and drummer Rufus Tiger Taylor.
The new track’s press release describes the single, “‘It’s Love, Jim’ is an all-out, high intensity, rock and roll barrage reflecting the unimaginable effects of an intimate encounter of the alien kind. The video captures archive footage of the band conducting a séance as a yearning otherworldly spirit unleashes its inescapable powers through Justin, Dan, Rufus and Frankie, as well as some unsuspecting cattle outside.”
Justin Hawkins has provided the following statement concerning the group’s new release: “This song (herein referred to as “she/her”) is all about an extra-terrestrial goddess of other worldly beauty. She’s fast, powerful, not of this earth. Her sensual symphony nestles in your ear and lays mind eggs that seep confidence liquid into your brains. You’ll feel invincible all day long, and everything will go right after you hear it. Yeah, so it’s really catchy and should be number 1 all around the world please.”
The track is the newest release to be taken from the band’s new album entitled Motorheart. The band’s seventh studio album is set to be released on 19th November 2021 via Cooking Vinyl. Previously signed with Canary Dwarf Records, the independent label released the band’s fifth studio album, Pinewood Smile. The label is home to an impressive list of artists, their roster includes Babymetal, Billy Brag and actor/musician Kiefer Sutherland.
“It’s Love, Jim” is the fourth single to be released from the album. The first single to be released was the album’s title track, “Motorheart”, released on 12th August 2021. The second single to be taken from the album was “Nobody Can See Me Cry”, released on 8th September 2021. The album’s third single entitled “Jussy’s Girl” was released on 24th September 2021 and also featured fantasy themes within its music video.
