In the run up to her new album release Taylor Swift seems to be up to her old ‘connect with her fans and cause them to massively freak out’ tricks again. Lately Taylor has been surprising her admirers by joining in with viewing their live feeds on Instagram, and there are recorded versions of these reactions being uploaded by the Swift fan base.
However, one lucky mega-fan from the UK, got one humongous step further, with a surprise home visit from the star herself. The super fans name is Lara with the Instagram name of ‘laraheartstaylor’. While Lara was doing a live stream off her account, Swift joined to watch. The Grammy award winning pop star slid into Lara’s DMs after the interaction, which Lara reacted in any Swift fan way, very hysterical and excited.
But Taylor didn’t stop there, as she went to visit Lara yesterday at her home, with a load of merchandise to give her, and the generosity stretched even further, giving her an exclusive listen to a track off the new album. The reasoning behind Taylor being in London could come down to her British Actor boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who she has been dating for months.
Taylor obviously has a band of very loyal fans, and she knows how to make these ‘Swifties’ feel special and connected to her, because this isn’t the first time she has done this. Just before the release of 1989 she invited fans to secret session listening parties at her several homes, including Nashville. She even let some fans feature as an extra in her music video for no.1 hit single ‘Shake It Off’.
Taylor also sent presents, and even delivered some herself when she begun ‘Swiftmas’ for her loyal fans she had been active with on social media and got to know all about their personal interests.
When a fan told Swift she helped her through a hard time when she couldn’t fall pregnant, Taylor visited her at home, now with a two-year-old son, to present them both with a ton of Christmas presents!
This loyalty to her fans certainly pays off for her album sales. Red sold a million albums in a week, and there was speculation that she wouldn’t beat it with her release of 1989 in 2014, but victory struck for the popular singer and did. 1989 sold 1.3 million copies in its first week alone, which is the biggest amount of album sales for its first week since 2002. Taylor went onto win another Grammy for ‘Album of the Year’ too, following her last win with Fearless in 2010.
With sixth studio album Reputation being released on November 10th, could she do the same thing and beat 1.3 million? With her kindness to fans being seen, and personal connections being made, Swift could be on the right track too. Watch the video for her latest single ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ here:
