The English pop stars, who are currently performing as a trio, following band member Jason Orange’s exit in 2014 and Robbie Williams’ successful solo career have hinted at a potential full reunion in 2017 following their 25th anniversary.
The band discussed continuing without Orange:
”Sometimes you think you’re used to it then a new thing comes along, and we do miss Jason. But we are a three-piece. This is what we’ve got to do.” ”It’s our biggest arena tour. In the energy of the show you’re aware that J’s not there. But you don’t want people to feel it’s missing him,” Mark Owen continued. ”That said, we’re respectful of J as well. We’re not trying to take his place. There are things we haven’t done because it was J’s thing.”
The previously Mercury Prize (Yes you read that correctly!) band were first established as a chart topping boy band from 1990-1996. They then broke up in ’96 and would not reunite until 2005! However Robbie Williams has only recently joined the rest of the band for a few select tour dates and in previous years has been focused on his own solo career.
Apparent sources have spoken to the Daily Mirror, saying that:
“They are going to celebrate their 25th anniversary for sure and it would be great to have Robbie [Williams] and Jason back. It’s a big deal to mark the occasion and not one many bands get to do.”
So whilst Take That as a trio (Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald) are still performing, and incidentally are set to be one of the headlining acts for “Barclaycard presents British Summer Time” next summer, it is still heavily expected that they will reunite for what one can imagine will be a huge nationwide tour.
