Stormzy has rescheduled his UK and Ireland tour dates for April 2021. The tour was supposed to kick off this Autumn but had to be cancelled due the COVID-19 pandemic. It will now start in Dublin in April 2021 and go to Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Sheffield, Liverpool and London.
The tour follows Stormzy’s chart topping second album Heavy is the Head, which dropped in December of last year. The album became one of the most streamed British albums of the year, only hours after its release. The album tackled a range of themes such as heartbreak, politics and Stormzy headlining Glastonbury in 2019.
Speaking about the album’s success, Apple confirmed; “Stormzy’s Heavy is the Head is the fastest-ever pre-added album on Apple Music in the UK to date, as well as the most pre-added album week one on Apple Music in the UK to date.”
Last month Heavy is the Head also earned Stormzy his first Mercury Prize nomination for ‘Album of the Year’, with other acts like Dua Lipa and Charli XCX. The winner will be announced on the 24th September, despite the fact that there will most likely not be a show to attend.
