Following the release of second album Sob Story earlier this year, Louis Jones has revealed that the next single to be released shall be Karaoke which will be followed by a full UK tour.
Full of intricate and delicate riffs, Sob Story was noticed by critics everywhere for a fondness for a sound that has somewhat lost it’s way over the last few years or so. With tracks that wouldn’t sound out of place in the 1970s, they are heavily focussed on intriguing chords, backed up by brother Will Jones on drums, supporting Jones’ versatile voice, which makes you wonder just what part of Yorkshire he comes from.
With performances coming up at the Visions festival in London this weekend followed by an appearance at the Beacons festival next weekend, Jones and his backing band will be in top shape to give the crowds at his upcoming tour a night to remember. Having slowly made a name for himself on the underground circuit Jones will be hoping that this autumn tour will be the one that propels him to the next step. New single Karaoke is Jones’ favourite guitar track on the album, saying “I love how this song turned out, it’s my favourite bit of guitar playing I’ve done on a record. I got into karaoke when I was in New York and I wanted the record to be like karaoke, me singing over all these different types of song. I don’t want to be militant about sound anymore, I’m not sure how many of these records I’m going to get to do so I might as well do whatever I like on them”. It seems to be working well for him though, and he can take confidence from the surge in popularity Spectrals have had since the release of Sob Story.
