Sophie Ellis-Bextor has announced the release of a compilation album titled ‘Songs from the Kitchen Disco‘. The album will comprise Ellis-Bextor’s previous singles and covers she does for her online live show, set for release on October 23. In support of the upcoming collection, she will embark on the ‘Kitchen Disco‘ tour next May.
Since the lockdown has tortured all of us to stay in extreme boredom under the roof, UK disco queen Sophie Ellis-Bextor came to save us with ‘Kitchen Disco‘. The show is Ellis-Bextor’s live stream via her Instagram every Friday with performances of her smash hits and numerous covers of tunes that soundtrack her quarantine experience.
Following the success of the live show, the “Murder on the Dancefloor” hitmaker decided to make the greatness of her homemade disco gig into a proper body of work with the ‘Songs from the Kitchen Disco‘ album. The singer took to the online world, imparting good news for all of us:
“I have news! No, not another baby. It’s a Kitchen Disco UK tour! And an album, Songs From The Kitchen Disco! It has all my singles in one place, plus some covers,” wrote Ellis-Bextor.
Apart from the upcoming compilation, the 41-year-old will also go on the road to promote the record with the ‘Kitchen Disco‘ tour. “The lockdown discos we shared have inspired me and I want to see all your faces so I can sing for you and give you a night where just for a little while, we can all lose ourselves under the mirror ball and dance and have fun. Won’t that feel magical?! I CAN’T WAIT!!! So excited xxxxxx,” said the singer.
The ‘Kitchen Disco‘ tour will run for eight dates, starting on May 7 at Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow, including one date in Palladium, London. Fans who pre-order the album will get access for the pre-sale right away, while the general sale will be up on Friday 17th, July.
Let’s hope we get to see the queen bring out the kitchen on the stage for us! And while we are patiently putting up with the lockdown for a little bit longer, put on the classic below and dance our boredom away.
