Slowthai is on course to bag his first UK number one album with ‘Tyron’ this week, as the album leads the way in both streamed and physical sales according to the midweek update of the Official Charts Company. The Northampton-born rapper released the follow up to his debut ‘Nothing Great About Great Britain’ on Friday; he now leads the rest of this week’s pack by over 4000 chart sales. ‘Tyron’ – named after Slowthai’s real first name – is set to comfortably surpass the chart position of his debut album, which peaked at number nine in 2019.

Currently in the number two spot is ‘Who Am I?’ of Manchester indie band Pale Waves. Also their sophomore album, ‘Who Am I?’ follows the pop rock belter ‘My Mind Makes Noises’ which peaked at number eight in the UK charts in 2018. Reacting to the preliminary midweek chart update, the band’s front woman Heather Baron Gracie said: “‘Who Am I?’ is currently number two in the official UK charts; thank you so much for all your support – it means the world to us. If you haven’t already picked up the album then please do before the final chart call on Friday. We love you.” Along with the message: “Thank u so much for all ur support – you guys are amazing and your love for this album has been incredible.”
Slipping down to number three in the midweek update is ‘Medicine at Midnight’ – the 10th studio album of Foo Fighters which debuted at number one last week. In response to the coveted number one award, frontman Dave Grohl sent a video to the OCC. “I would like to thank everyone for honouring us with this number one record,” he said. “After 25 years of being a band it still kinda blows our mind that this could actually happen and we’re very grateful, we’re very thankful and we can’t wait to get back there to see you guys – sooner rather than later I hope. We’re ready, everyday we’re one step closer; thank you very much, see you soon!”
UK heavy rock band Inglorious are set to break into the top 40 for the second time with their new album ‘We Will Ride’, currently sitting at number 20 at the half way point. Meanwhile the 50th anniversary edition of ‘Stage Fright’ - the third studio album of Canadian- American group The Band – is set to reenter the UK charts at number 21 , after first charting at number 15 upon its release in 1970.
