Back in July, CKY released their first album as a trio after a 7-year break from releasing music, titled ‘The Phoenix’, which followed their 2009 release of ‘Carver City’.
“We took a seven year break or whatever and just fucked off for a while, and it’s cool to see that people still want to hear us play,” says drummer Jesse Margera to OC Weekly. “You don’t know how people are going to react after that amount of time, but people have been checking out the new record and the shows on this tour have been good, so I’m not sure there’s anything else I can ask for.”
Skindred recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their second album ‘Roots Rock Riot’. There last album release, ‘Volume’ was in October 2015 and was their first record with Napalm Records. Accompanying the record was a DVD, ‘Rude Boys For Life’ which gave fans an insight to Skindred’s life on the road, time in the studio and headline performances. Speaking to Metal Insider about the release, when asked about ‘Rude Boys For Life’ frontman Benji Webbe said “Most of the footage was filmed many years ago. It’s a collection from the last 15 years of history and we just wanted to give the world the truth about us. Based off the response we have had from the DVD so far, we have done exactly that.”
Meanwhile, Skindred spent last month touring around Australia with Max and Iggor Cavalera Return To Roots, playing five shows down under. However, back in the UK, they are going to be playing The Avenue in Chesterfield this coming weekend on Saturday, October 28th and The Assembly in Leamington on the 29th. as part of a Halloween show.
