As if we did not think 2020 could get any weirder, Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil revealed that he once tried to enter the famous song contest. Not quite the two things I would have put together, but I am sure that he would have done amazingly regardless. At least it would have been entertaining.
Though he did not try to enter with his main band Biffy Clyro, he looked at entering with his side project Marmaduke Duke. He has said his love for the competition came around 18 years ago when he took acid with some friends and watched the show. Now he watches it every year. I have watched Eurovision and I am not sure if Simon Neil would have fit in to the usual type of participants. The Russian singing Grannies and all.
‘Weird Leisure’ is the latest track to be taken from Biffy Clyro’s new album ‘A Celebration of Endings’ which is released on August 14th! Pre-order the album to receive the track instantly or listen at https://t.co/RPxioInSVVpic.twitter.com/T4Cyi1RVRS

This comes just after his main project, Biffy Clyro, have released a new song ‘Weird Leisure’ from their forthcoming album ‘A Celebration of Endings’ which will be their ninth studio album. Which will come shortly after their last effort that only came last year.
The Scottish band was also announced to be playing at Download festival next year alongside legends KISS and System Of a Down. Which is a massive move for the band to be able to walk straight back into gigs of that calibre right after lockdown.
Having made more than a name for themselves over the years, the band show no signs of stopping at all. Although it never happened, it would have been nice to have seen Neil and his side project try their hand at Eurovision as it would have added another element to the show – not that it needs it.
But luckily, we still got to hear all of the band’s amazing music. Which, as fun as it would have been, is better than a Eurovision last place for Simon Neil. Deep down we would all like to think that they would win but the history of political voting is rife in that competition so he would not stand a chance.
