Bristol-born singer/song-writer, She Makes War has announced a string of live UK dates, in 2019. In addition to announcing the live dates, the singer has also revealed deluxe bundles of her 2016 album, ‘Direction Of Travel’.
Performing throughout February, March, April and May, Laura Kid – known by her stage name She Makes War – will be supporting Sleeper, Ferocious Dog, Desperate Journalist, The Levellers, and The Juliana Hatfield Three. In addition to a War Child Brits Week show, at London’s Omeara, on the 15th of February alongside Frank Turner and Johnny Lloyd, and a slot, at Somerset’s Farmfest, in July.
Meanwhile, Kidd has also revealed details of forthcoming deluxe bundles of her 2016 album, ‘Direction Of Travel’ which, will also be the first time the album has been made available in a vinyl format, are available to pre-order now from here.
Last year, saw the release of She Makes War’s fourth album, ‘Brace For Impact’, which received critical acclaim from the likes of Kerrang!, Louder Than War, and The Sun. Her fourth album, as with all her other albums, was completely crowd funded, and hit number 15, in the Independent Albums Chart.
Speaking about the crowd funding for her album, Kidd said: “My audience is super supportive and helped me smash through my target because they’re excited to hear new material, which enables me to create exactly the music I want at a quality that matches releases by bigger artists. I’ve never wanted to wait around for the old guard to validate and endorse me – my whole career has been about making exactly the art I want to and finding a way to get it to people, so crowdfunding is key to that.”
Continuing, Kidd said, “The money raised so far has entirely paid for my engineer/mixer’s time, studio hire, extra musicians (drums, piano and strings) plus manufacture of vinyl, CDs, cassettes and printed lyric books. The pre-order will run right up until release, raising more money to help with music videos, press and everything else, so this is an incredible position to be in – especially when you remember the story that most bands on big labels never recoup. I’ve sold more than 1000 copies of the record (300 of which are on vinyl) and it’s not out until 28th September. I’m so thankful to my fans for believing in me.”
Last year Laura penned an open letter to women and non-binary people who may feel uncomfortable or unsafe at shows, assuring them that every She Makes War gig provides a safe environment for all. She Makes War’s full schedule of Live Dates can been seen below. While, tickets can be purchased here.
