American singer/songwriter Shamir has announced the release of his seventh studio album simply titled ‘Shamir‘. The album is expected to drop on October 2. The singer also shared new track “I Wonder” alongside a music video.
Queer icon Shamir Bailey has never failed to impress his fans, and this year he is about to bring gigantic joy to his fans again with the second album drop. The 25-year-old just announced the upcoming self-title album set for the October release. The LP is a follow-up to ‘Cataclysm‘, the nine-track album released back in March.
Shamir also previewed the look of the album cover, and it already broke the indie world. Check it out below.

To celebrate the announcement, the “On the Regular” singer shared a second cut from the forthcoming record, “I Wonder“. The track continues the alternative pop sound that was first introduced in the lead single,”On My Own“.
About ‘Shamir‘ the album, the icon said that it is the most “commercial-sounding” since his XL Recordings release ‘Ratchet‘ in 2015. Regarding the album title, Shamir explained to Dork, “I felt like it didn’t need a name, cuz it’s the record that’s most me.”
He also gave some insights into the “I Wonder” track that it is about love and the twist of criticism about human exploitation on the environment. “The song is about the feeling of love taking over your heart, even when you don’t want it to. It also alludes to climate change and how humans (‘love’) can be the most toxic thing to the planet (‘the heart’), but also the only thing that can fix it.”
Elsewhere, the Las Vegas-born singer just launched his own record label Accidental Popstar Records. However, Shamir confirmed that the self-title will be released independently.
