Sam Smith has announced their third studio Love Goes will be released on Friday the 30th of October. Taking to Instagram to announce the news, they shared the cover art and said; “I’m extremely happy and overjoyed to announce my third album (I can’t believe I’m saying that) ‘Love Goes’. “
They explained the meaning behind the album, which has been in the works for the past two years, saying; “This album marks a time of experimentation and self discovery in my life. I wrote this from the age of 26-28 and it’s been one hell of a ride. I hope the people who listen to it enjoy it and love it like I have and do.”
They also released their latest single from the album, Diamonds as well as the music video, which shows Sam dancing around an empty house during a storm. The video was directed by Black Dog Films. You can watch the video below.
Sam decided to postpone and re-name their third studio album in March as they didn’t feel the original title To Die For was appropriate because of the COVID-19 global pandemic. They announced this on Twitter, saying; “I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of my album and imminent release doesn’t feel right, have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions.”
It’s no surprise Sam wanted to postpone the album after they have said how much of themselves they have put into the album, in another Instagram post, they shared how every song on the album tells its own story. Sam went on to say; “Every time I went into the studio, I promised myself I would shoot for the stars and have no limitations. The result has been so magical and so therapeutic and FUN.” They finished off the post by apologising to fans for the delay, saying; “I am sorry it’s taken a while. But these unprecedented times gave me the room and space to fall in love with these songs all over again.”
Love Goes will be out on the 30th of October but Diamonds is available on all streaming platforms now and you can watch the music video below.
