The Cribs frontman, Ryan Jarman, made a plea to fans through the band’s Facebook page yesterday evening (July 23).
Formally from Wakefield, Jarman now resides in New York City working on his latest project, Exclamation Pony. His missing Sunburst Gibson 335 has been part of multiple tours for The Cribs and has “A lot of sentimental value”. The guitar was stolen in Brooklyn, New York by Jarman’s former roommate and has already been sold on.
The band posted a further image yesterday evening displaying the black Gibson hardcase the guitar was last seen in, with “The Cribs” sprayed onto the rear of the case in red. A reward will be issued for any information leading to the return of the guitar along with their “eternal gratitude”.
The band of brothers are set to take some time out following their string of shows in the UK this august. The Cribs released Payola on March 11 this year, a best of collection from the band’s 5 album catalogue. You can catch The Cribs this August across the UK and at Y Not Festival, where the band are set to headline the Saturday night (August 3).
The full post from the band:
“Ryan’s sunburst Gibson 335, a guitar he has toured with extensively for the last few years, has been stolen in New York by his former roommate. It was stolen in the Williamsburg, Brooklyn area and has already been sold, however it’s whereabouts are unknown. Please please could you keep an eye out for it, it could be in any pawn shop/music store in the area and may be in a very distinctive Gibson hardcase with ‘The Cribs’ sprayed on it in red. The serial number is: 81051048. It has a black pickguard that had some stickers on it as seen on the pic, however these may have been removed. Any person giving ANY information leading to it’s return would receive our eternal gratitude and some other kind of reward as the guitar has a lot of sentimental value and we are gutted that it has been stolen. Please help!”
