Irish singer/song-writer, RuthAnne Cunningham released her new single ‘Liquid‘ on Friday the 10th of August, through the independent record label The Other Songs. Following the release of her debut single ‘The Vow’ and ‘Take My Place’, ‘Liquid’ is the third track from her forthcoming album, which is due to be released in 2019, and is reminiscent of 90’s hip hop/soul music.
“‘Liquid’ is basically my response to any haters, fake friends and trolls out there. People seem to just talk on a surface level to each other, but then tear each other apart behind their back, or from behind a computer screen. Everyone has become a critic which means that more and more people are feeling the pressure to be perfect…to portray perfection. I allowed myself to be real about shit that wasn’t so great in my life and then write this song, calling it out for what it is and not letting any of it get to me anymore,” Cunningham says, speaking of the newly released single.
Cunningham’s, career started when she was 17, when her then manager Eamonn Maguire took her to the US, where she co-wrote JoJo’s hit single ‘Too Little Too Late’ with Billy Steinberg and Josh Alexander. The hit single went from number 66 to number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in just one week in America. Cunningham was awarded with the very prestigious ASCAP Songwriters Best Pop Award, which stands for the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, at the 24th Annual ASCAP Pop Awards 2007 for ‘Too Little Too Late’.
Over the past year, RuthAnne has written many hits including Niall Horan’s ‘Slow Hands’ and Martin Garrix’s ‘In The Name Of Love’, which together have garnered her over 1.5 billion streams. In May 2018, she received two BMI awards for penning “Slow Hands” for Niall Horan and “In The Name Of Love” for Martin Garrix.
She’s also written a string of hits including Britney Spears’ RIAA platinum-certified ‘Work Bitch’ and featured on the ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ soundtrack with her song ‘Pray’. Last month RuthAnne supported Alanis Morrissette on her UK and Irish tour, as well as recently supporting Third Story and X Ambassadors on tour, and she also joined Niall Horan to sing on his ‘Flicker World Tour’.
