Hip-Hop pioneers Run-DMC have surprised fans today, with the news that they will returning to England’s capital for one night only, later this year.
The legendary trio haven’t performed in England since 2015, but will be returning on July 5 for a concert at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo, and will surely roll out their legendary hits for all to see. Tickets for the event go on sale here on January 26, with presale available on January 24.
Formed in new York in 1981, Run-DMC are widely considered to be amongst the very first hip-hop groups, finding massive success on their own, and with their massive collaboration with rock legends Aerosmith on ‘Walk This Way’, in the mid-1980s. They became the first hip-hop group to be on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and in 2009 they became the second rap artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, after Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
Whilst July’s show at the Apollo will mark their return to London for the first time in three years, the group did appear on the British Festival circuit over the summer, topping the bill as co-headliners alongside David Guetta at the famous Isle of Wight Festival.
