Brighton’s legendary rock duo Royal Blood shared exciting news about dropping fresh music next week. The teaser came alongside the ambiguous announcement of a new 7” single ‘Typhoon’ but so far it is unclear if the band are dropping another track or just the full version of the song in question. Ever since Royal Blood performed live versions of the unreleased ‘King‘ and ‘Boilermaker‘ in the summer of 2019, fans have anxiously been anticipating their premiere but so far the only new release has been ‘Trouble’s Coming‘.
The exclusive 7” vinyl of the “razmatazz” ‘Typhoon‘ is available to order via the band’s official website and all major physical music retailers here .
Royla Blood have been fairly quiet ever since their last full-lenght album How Did We Get So Dark? from June 2017. The record received predominantly positive reviews and topped the UK Album Charts with an impressive 36 weeks in the chards in total. Since the release of their second album almost four years ago, Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher spent some time touring but have not shared any new music since last year.
The surprising premiere of their last single ‘Trouble’s Coming’ from last September marked an exciting new chapter in the duo’s career. Following a slightly different direction, the track performed well and almost landed them a personal best chart entry. ‘Trouble’s Coming‘ peaked at #46 just few position short of their highest ever performer and platinum-certified ‘Figure It Out‘ from 2014.
‘Trouble’s Coming‘ has already passed 12 million streams in Spotify with its official video closing on 2 million views on YouTube. The track was selected by Annie Mac amongst the 20 Hottest Records of 2020 stating: “More than ever morphing into the British Queens of the Stone Age, Royal Blood pounded their way through this shimmering guitar anthem“. Moreover, the single ended at third place in the public vote for Radio X’s Record Of The Year.

Shortly following ‘Trouble’s Coming‘ official release and video premiere, the single was also selected for the soundtrack of both NHL 21 and Fifa 21. Royal Blood quickly followed up with the powerful collaboration with Run The Jewels for ‘The Ground Below‘, originally featured on the hip-hop duo’s latest record RTJ4 (2020). Singer and bassist Mike Kerr is due to appear on fellow Brighton heavyweights Architects’ track ‘Little Wonder‘ from their hugely anticipated upcoming album For Thos That Wish To Exist due on 26 February this year.
With regards to the still unreleased ‘King‘ and ‘Boilermaker‘, fingers crossed to hear an official studio version soon. Whether next week is going to deliver one of the two tracks or just the single ‘Typhoon’ is still uncertain but the #releaseboilermaker is still going strong even with drumer Ben Thatcher himself.
I can’t wait to get back playing shows with my best mate. Excited to thrash out these new tunes for you all and looking forward to the moment when I look down at the set list to see Out Of The Black is the next song. #releaseboilermaker @royalblooduk
