Following the teaser from last week, Royal Blood have just released their brand new track ‘Trouble’ s Coming‘. The single premiered on Annie Mac’s “Hottest Record in The World” on BBC Radio 1 at 6pm earlier today. Groovy and upbeat, the track is everything we love about Royal Blood’s signature style while also being fresh and somewhat different. Add a subtle funky twist and you get a contemporary rock banger, worthy of big arena sing-alongs.
Mike Kerr’s bass and singing leads the song through a pretty straightforward and energetic rock arrangement towards a catchy chorus and one of his signature bridges and brief solo. Meanwhile, drummer Ben Thatcher seems to have taken a step back acting mainly as a solid foundation with metronome precision and maintaining the jumpy dance-like feel. The production is as polished as one would expect from a band of such calibre but credit should to the team behind the crisp mixing.
‘Trouble’s Coming‘ is the first official single of Royal Blood’s highly anticipated third studio album. The renowned Brighton rock duo has been supposedly recording new material since March, spending much of the UK lockdown in studio. At this point there is no specific release dates but there is likely to be more information coming soon following the new single dropping today.
Speaking about their new track, Royal Blood stated that “blood, tears and joy have been shed to get to this very moment“. Kerr and Thatcher carried on to suggest there is “something really special” on the way and to emphasize the personal significant of the song, made entirely for themselves allowing “everything [they] love about music to reveal itself“.
We’re both so incredibly proud to say that ‘Trouble’s Coming’ is OUT NOW: https://t.co/ZzNppHyeeb

Contrary to what fans were speculating for the whole last week since the first teaser was published, the premier today was a surprise release of previously unheard track. Last year Royal Blood performed two new tracks ‘Boilermaker‘ and ‘King‘ on various festival stages, but these are yet to be released and likely to either be a follow-up on ‘Trouble’s Coming‘ or at least featured on the album. The last couple of days have seen Royal Blood’s official social media channels filled with video snippets and stills of potential video but so far there has only been an audio release of the new track, with further announcements likely to follow over the next few days or week. The band is announcing the winner of the Tunespeak’s random prize draw for signed guitar tomorrow, which could potentially be backed up with more news.
