Pop stalwart Robbie Williams says that the recent cancellation of his tour was due to the ‘very worrying’ test results, that saw him being hospitalised in in an intensive care unit.
Williams released his 11th solo album The Heavy Entertainment Show last year, and had been due to set out on a three date stint in Russia, before being forced to cancel due to the illness in September.
The former Take That member has uploaded a video to YouTube page to explain the situation, and thanked the fans for their patience during his five week illness. Things were reportedly exacerbated during this period due to the singer suffering a slipped disc in his back.
“I’ve been recovering from an illness now for the last five weeks,”Williams explains.
“Unfortunately, that illness kicked in just at the end of my tour, a tour which was going so well,” he adds. “Then I got some test results… They were very worrying and I ended up in ICU, so I couldn’t go.
“I haven’t pulled out of a tour for bad health since 1998 so you know if I can’t do it then there’s something going on that I just can’t do it,” he continues.
“I know I’m going to be better than ever,” he concludes in the video.
Williams isn’t due to be hitting the road again until February 2018, when he’ll be touring Australia and New Zealand. There has been no news as yet of any plans to rescheduled the previously cancelled dates.
