English singer and songwriter, Robbie Williams, has announced that he’s releasing a new album “XXV” on September 9th though Columbia Records and Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Robbie left the infamous boyband Take That to embark on a solo career in 1995. “XXV” will mark and celebrate 25 years of Robbie as a solo artist, with the album featuring a wide selection of his top hit singles and fan favourites. All of the tracks have been newly arranged by Jules Buckley, Guy Chambers and Steve Sidwell, and re-recorded alongside the acclaimed jazz and pop orchestra from the Netherlands, “Metropole Orkest”.
In a statement regarding the album’s forthcoming release, Robbie said, “I’m so excited to announce my new album XXV which celebrates many of my favourite songs from the past 25 years. Each track has a special place in my heart so it was a real thrill to record them again with the Metropole Orkest. Can’t wait for you all to hear it”.
There are set to be two versions of XXV available, a regular version and a deluxe version. They will be available digitally, on CD, vinyl, and cassette. A new version of the well known track ‘Angels’ is online now.
The album will provide fans with throwback classics, as well as new material. Both the standard and deluxe edition of the album features Robbie’s new song ‘Lost’. ‘Lost’ has been described as “a moving song in classic Robbie style with poignant lyrics, piano elements and soaring strings”. In an interview with Guilty Pleasures, Robbie discussed the inspiration of his new track, stating, “I’d go on these enormous benders, high-octane and enjoyable, and then they were hell. I quite often used to get on a train at Euston and get picked up by mum at Stoke station. It’s that desolate place of, “Oh my god, everything is completely out of control.” And sadness and depression. But I was saying, my career hasn’t been as good since I got happy, so I’ve had to revisit a bit of sadness and hopefully something will happen.”
The deluxe album will feature three of Robbie’s more original tracks, ‘Disco Symphony’, ‘More Than This’, and ‘The World And Her Mother’. It will also include, newer versions of his old time hits, ‘Let Me Entertain You’, ‘Strong’ and ‘No Regrets’.
