Fast-rising London collective Sun Silva have released their brand new track ‘Sun Skin Air’. The track premiered with DIY, on Friday the 8th of February 2019. The new single follows the release of their massively acclaimed debut single ‘Blue Light’ last year, which also had great tastemaker praise alongside strong radio support from Radio 1 and BBC Introducing.
The track, ‘Sun Skin Air’, has already been getting great support from the likes of DIY, who said: “On newie ‘Sun Skin Air’, London quartet SUN SILVA manage to crib together classic driving melodies, woozy psych and a tendency for the unexpected – to create an intoxicating whole.”
Speaking about the single, Sun Silva frontman, Oscar Gormley said: “We wrote ‘Sun Skin Air’ in a horrible hostel with no fan during a visit to Spain. It’s a hard hitter, kind of Krauty and a bit gritty – probably due to the frustration of being in that room. This song is much weirder than ‘Blue Light’, which is the way we wanted to go with this one.”
Ahead of the release of the single, ‘Sun Skin Air’, the quartet, made up of Oscar Gormley (vocals/guitar); Jake Brown (drums); Sam Becker (bass), Charlie Woof-Byrne (keys), were announced to be playing at a number of UK festivals, this year. They have been announced as performers at festivals including Live At Leeds and Hit The North.
The band have also been announced to support Luna Bay, at London’s OMEARA, on the 11th of March 2019. The shows mark the first of a number of exciting live announcements from SUN SILVA to follow shortly. Sun Silva hit the scene last year with their debut single ‘Blue Light’ and have been quick to garner a name for themselves.
The band have clawed a name for themselves on the live scene, with them having previously sold out headline shows including The Lexington and Sebright Arms, in London. Radio 1 Indie Show host Jack Saunders became such a fan of the band, that he took them out on their first tour of the UK, in association with the Radio 1 Indie Show.
The quartet continue to put their mark on the UK live scene last year. They sold out their own London headline show at The Lexington, which they followed with high profile support slots for the likes of Jungle and Swimming Girls. The band also played their first festival at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival.
