In her TikTok challenge, Sawayama duetted with Vic Jamieson (@vicjamiesonplays), a talented guitarist who played on the original track and three others. Jamieson uses his platform to show off his extraordinary musical abilities, learning legendary solos on request by ear!
Not only has Sawayama set a trend on TikTok, but she has also dominated the streaming platform, Spotify. In a TikTok video released yesterday, the singer showed off her 100 million streams on the deluxe edition of her album. This features bonus tracks such as ‘Lucid‘, ‘We Out Here’ and acoustic versions of the nu metal track ‘STFU!’. There is even a cover of The 1975 track, ‘Love It If We Made It’, where Sawayama puts her own alt-pop meets electro twist on the beloved song.
The pop-sensations album, SAWAYAMA, gained wide spread attention. Named ‘Line of Best Fit’s Album of 2020‘, the album even gained high calibre with musical icons such as Elton John, who said it was his ‘favourite album of the year’. In an interview with MusicFeeds, Sawayama hinted that ‘the new era of Rina has already started’. She stated ‘I’ve got about half an album of working songs already. I’m going to keep writing.’
It is no doubt that the pop sensation dominated 2020 with the release of her personal and passionate album. With new music on the horizon, Sawayama is keeping her fans entertained during lockdown 3.0 with the Dynasty challenge, an engaging and fun way to promote showing off vocal range and ability.
