The BBC has confirmed that the three DJ’s will be replacing Charlie Sloth in hosting the late evening, 9pm-11pm show. They will begin hosting in 2019. Charlie Sloth, who has been presenting the hip-hop show ‘The 8th’ since 2017, left the station last month.
We have agreed with Charlie Sloth that he will not be presenting any further editions of ‘The 8th’ and ‘The Rap Show’ for Radio 1 and 1Xtra. New presenters will be announced for both shows in coming weeks.

Sloth claimed he was leaving to “seek a new challenge”. However, it was said that his show would continue running until the beginning of November but was cut short due to a controversial stunt pulled by Sloth at an awards ceremony in October. The incident involved Edith Bowman, who won Best Specialist Music category at The Arias radio awards. Sloth responded by climbing up on stage, taking the microphone and saying “Edith Bowman, fuck your life. I just wanna say – Radio 1, 1Xtra, Saturday Night Rap Show, fuck your life. God bless.” Edith Bowman simply responded with a simple tweet, “Morning, Charlie Sloth. Hope you are feeling okay this morning.”
Sloth has been presenting shows for the BBC for a decade now, he is yet to announce what his next move will be career-wise. Despite it being highly unusual for a host to leave a show just after a year, especially after such a good response from audiences, Sloth did, however, cause a lot of controversies.
