Good news for all the festival fans out there! Despite all the big events like Glastonbury or Reading and Leeds being cancelled, you still get your chance at experiencing the festival summer that we all thought we had to miss out on. It might be a bit shorter than usual, with only one festival taking place, but the Red Rooster Festival in Suffolk is planning on making your 2020 festival experience worth it in September.
Of course, the social distancing rules have to be kept in mind, but with the UK government’s announcement last week saying that outdoor performances can take place, providing they have a “limited and socially distanced audience”, festival organisers have decided to keep going.
The festival will take place over the span of three days, starting on September 4 and ending on September 6, at the Euston Hall in Suffolk. It will be limited to a capacity of 5.000, with only three outdoor stages to follow social distancing measures. Red Rooster Festival is focussing on genres like soul, rock’n’roll, blues, soul, country music and cajun.
“We are working closely with our Health & Safety and Production teams to produce something that is truly magical without losing the spirit and atmosphere of our beautiful little festival”, James Brennan, the festival director and production manager, said.
Despite social distancing rules, the visitors will even be able to camp out on the festival grounds: “Over 60% of our audience stay in family group campervans which hugely helps us contain camping areas safely, plus by moving to outdoor stages only, we feel we can offer a safe environment in which to enjoy the festival.”
“Over the next few weeks, we will be putting together stringent new plans and providing detailed information to ensure the safety of our audience, artists and crew, which is of course of paramount importance.”
The line-up is yet to be announced. For more information, check out the festival’s website here.
