A few weeks ago we did an article on news that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were currently working on a new album and work was set to be completed sooner rather than later. See that article here.
Bassist and founding member of the LA born band Michael ‘Flea’ Balzary spoke to Q magazine about the direction of the band:
“We’re near the end of it,” he says. “Danger Mouse is producing this time, instead of Rick Rubin. We’re heading into a new era and we’re really excited.”
Asked how the album is sounding, he adds: “It’s new and different but without sacrificing the good bits of us. There are some songs we already had, and some new ones too. I can’t wait to play it live.”
2016 is set to be a massive year for Red Hot Chili Peppers, with their new album coming out as well as the band headlining the twin UK festivals Reading and Leeds this summer. This follows what has been a relatively quiet few years for the rock group, with their last release being in 2011 with ‘I’m With You’ incidentally also being the first album to feature new (although not new anymore!) lead guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, following John Frusciante’s second and seemingly final retreat from the fame and the band.
Red Hot Chili Peppers are also set to headline Canada’s Osheaga festival in Montreal this summer:

Expectation for the new Red Hot Chili Peppers could not be higher, with promises of a different sound, I know I personally cannot wait for the new release.
