Irish alt-pop artist Rebekah Fitch has released an interactive video game to coincide with her new single Game Over. Rebekah created the visuals with her younger brother, Conor. To play the game the user must help the character Zedd collect as many stars as possible and avoid bombs which take points away. Game Over is playing in the background and your time runs out when the song ends.
She took to Instagram to announce the game saying; “We’ve been working on this since August and I’m absolutely buzzing to let you guys play it!! I wanted to create something interactive, that you guys could be involved in and engage with. Hopefully a little something to spark some joy this month!”
Game Over came out on the 28th of October. Rebekah wrote the song about dealing with the pressure of adult life and how life knocks you back sometimes. The punchy track perfectly captures the feeling of having the rug pulled from under you that accompanies your early twenties.
Speaking about the single she said; “You’ve lost your youthful ignorance. You’re facing the realisation that nothing in life is working out as you imagined it would, and you can’t fight the overwhelming sense that you’re falling behind, doing everything wrong. Somewhere within you that childlike hope and magic and lust for life is fighting to survive, despite the weight of responsibility and endless cycle of bad news about the state of the world.”
This is Rebekah’s second track of the year after she released Dust in September of this year. This track tells the story of how to pick yourself up and move on after experiencing a sudden loss. Rebekah was featured on Hot Press’ ‘Hot for 2019′ Irish acts.
Game Over is out now on all platforms. You can play the interactive video game here.
