A verified account of Radiohead appeared on TikTok social media platform yesterday. The rock band shared an interesting monochrome glitchy clip featuring ChieftanMews. He is the long-running character played by record producer and musician Nigel Godrich who has worked with the group since their 3rd album from 1997 ‘Ok Computer’. He also produced most of the solo work by Radiohead’s singer Thom Yorke.
In the TikTok video we can see ChieftanMews sitting at the news desk with a band logo in the background. There is a ‘Mews’ sign seen on the desk and the video has a black and white, glitchy filter. The character is wearing his bald cap, a suit and has his nails painted black. In the background plays Radiohead’s song ‘Paranoid Android’. Someone talks to him off-camera: “Say something”, to which Mews replies: “Well, what do you want me to say? TikTok, Tiktok, TikTok”. Then he adds: “This is your wakeup call. Have a good day.”
The Radiohead TikTok account reads: ‘Proud to be joining the TikTok revolution‘. You can watch the video below.

No one really knows what the video means, as it came out on 1st of April which is April Fools Day. Some fans speculate that the mysterious video is an announcement for new music from the band, commenting: “I bet a new record’s coming soon. It’s been 5 years since the last one, and I can only assume those introverts are using covid as a vehicle to create”.
Radiohead was formed in Abingdon, in 1985 by Thom Yorke. So far they have released 16 Albums, including compilation albums.
