Hackney rapper Professor Green has delayed his UK tour, planned for November, until May of next year, due to the delayed release of his upcoming third album, ‘Growing Up in Public’.
The rapper, whose real name is Steven Manderson, had planned to perform a 12 date tour, starting in Glasgow and finishing at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on the 22nd November, in order to celebrate the release of, ‘Growing Up in Public’ in mid-October.
However, recording was delayed on the album after Green was involved in a multi-vehicle car accident in May, meaning studio sessions had to be rescheduled, and the tour postponed while the album was completed.
Green issued the following apology in a statement on his official website:
“Firstly, I can’t apologise enough for postponing the tour, I’m as excited to see you all as I hope you are me! Everything was on schedule and then I was unfortunate enough to end up sandwiched between two cars leaving my health and album/touring schedule in absolute jeopardy.
I want to make the best possible album I can for you all and I want you to have heard the new music so as we can all enjoy the shows how they’re meant to be enjoyed. I could have rushed an album for the sake of making the tour but as I hope you all know I’m in this for the music and am not willing to let it suffer due to a date in the diary.
I promise you all it’ll be worth the wait, and there’ll be some bits and bobs in the meantime to bridge the gap… and a new F64.
Apologies for the inconvenience, I’ll see you soon x”
Both the album release and tour are now expected to take place in early 2014.
Green married his girlfriend, Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh in Somerset earlier this month.
